Flown the Nest

from The Island by Echorec

/

lyrics

Here I am, left behind, resigned,

Though I find myself awake all night.

Waiting for sounds, homeward bound,

So I drown my fears that hold me down,

My girl, out in the world

Still I remain the same, a forgotten ball and chain.

A background role again, supporting lines in a play.

All that I can say, is I pray for my girl’s safe return,

when will I ever learn?

As the river flows,

The ocean takes her away.

Flying high,

From my nest, she’ll stay.

I’m a bird, who cannot sing, with broken wings

But if you love something let it fly.

How can I say goodbye to the life she up and left behind?

Our minds, untwined.

Still I remain the same, a forgotten ball and chain.

A background role again, supporting lines in a play.
