Safe at Home 09:34
A home by the ocean, An open window, Curtains fly in the wind. Midsummer morning, A golden sunlight, Descends upon a girl. Yearning for adventure, She looks to horizons for signs of worlds far beyond, but mother knows just how to respond: She's safer at home, she's safe at home. She's safer at home, she's safe at home. it’s all she’ll ever know (all she’ll ever know). Under the lighthouse, As dusk approaches, She plans of her escape. Hidden in the darkness, The cold wind blowing, A voice is calling her name. Searching, she finds an empty bed by the open window. She dreams of distant worlds, adventure and friendships far from home. She has a starlight yearning, her soul is searching on. Lost in Moonlight, Lying awake on a bed of assumptions, she longs to be far away. She's a stargazer, a real home breaker. But someone sees her... The daughter leaves in fierce independence, or so it seemed to her. All alone in an empty bedroom, Mother was left behind. Frozen in stone, She held her resistance and watched her daughter alone, sail to the distant and unknown. She's safer at home, she's safe at home. She's safer at home, it’s all she’ll ever know (all she’ll ever know).

The Island 05:48
Clouds are breaking, wild waters wake, and the moon reflects on the tide. A storm is brewing, boat begins to sway, but on the shore, the madder men lie. A figure stands on the horizon, the sky alights and thunder strikes the air. A darkened presence says ride the tide girl, all of a sudden the boat begin to turn. A girl arrives on the rocky shores and stranded. Her only light, a spinning tower of hope. A broken boat, the sound of rolling thunder. She climbs ahead, away from stormy seas. Following the starlight she hears a crowded noise, She happens on a harbour, and a bar brimming with joy. A sudden stifled silence, she walks up to the bar. "I'm looking for my father, could he have passed through here at all?"" A stranger from the shore line, 'bout 20 years ago. ""We do not know his name but be lives in the hills alone." "Seal your tongue", cried a voice in the crowd. “Can't you see she's just a girl?" Don't you go filling her head with nonsense, We haven't see no one like that here. "Best be off”, you really don't belong here, you never know who might be listening". Far too late, the girl was on her way there, she only smiled as she was running." A figure stands on the horizon, the sky alights and thunder strikes the air. A darkened presence says ride the tide girl, all of a sudden the boat begin to turn. ...and the moon reflects on the tide, but on the shore, the madder men lie...

Sunlight breaks on the forest floor, The branches bend and sigh. Leaves fall slowly at your feet, A whisper from the winds of time. A figure appears, cloaked in flame, Rising he calls your name. Stepping into the light, She looks into his eyes. Hypnotised, Still surprised. 'Take my hand' he cries 'and follow me' Darling don’t you see? There’s no time to waste'. Bewildered she follows behind him with little choice. Somehow she realises she knows that voice. His house covered in leaves, Hidden by trees, he speaks: 'You found me’, ‘Finally'. 'Take my hand' he cries 'and follow me' Darling don’t you see? There’s no time to waste'. The ancient trees begin to sigh, She hears that voice once more. The man appears with picture in hand, A father, and a family of four.

Darling, I 05:37
There he is, and after all this time he opens for embrace. Here I am, a million thoughts in my head, but all I want to know is... All these years gone by and I can't face him now. His face, his eyes, I know I recognise, That look, that smile, and after all this time Where have you been? "Oh my darling don't you know? I never let you go. The day you were born Your mother said to me: 'I'll raise this girl alone, She'll never have to know. The damage you have done is set in the stone.' Welcome home, can I forgive what he's done? Could we ever heal? Take me home, fix this broken mess. Why was I not told this? All these years gone by and I can't face him now. His face, his eyes,I know I recognise, That look, that smile, and after all this time, Where have you been? 'So I worked, my fingers to the bone, So you could have a home. But I never knew your name And you never knew my pain. The letters that I wrote, My whispers on the wind. With every day that passed, I knew I'd failed you.' 'Oh my girl, don't you know?I, I never let you go. Oh my Darling, I...'

Here I am, left behind, resigned, Though I find myself awake all night. Waiting for sounds, homeward bound, So I drown my fears that hold me down, My girl, out in the world Still I remain the same, a forgotten ball and chain. A background role again, supporting lines in a play. All that I can say, is I pray for my girl’s safe return, when will I ever learn? As the river flows, The ocean takes her away. Flying high, From my nest, she’ll stay. I’m a bird, who cannot sing, with broken wings But if you love something let it fly. How can I say goodbye to the life she up and left behind? Our minds, untwined. Still I remain the same, a forgotten ball and chain. A background role again, supporting lines in a play.

My head is full of sound, The forest tries to drown it out. My thoughts are cold and dark, So I try to light a spark. I know just what it means, To be strung out and seventeen. How did I get to 23? I know just what it means, To be strung out and seventeen. How did I become me? Kindling burns and flickers out, Taunting me and dying out. I'll light again to bury the sound, The fire takes to the ground. I know just what it means, To be strung out and seventeen. How did I get to 23? I know just what it means, To be strung out and seventeen. How did I become me? Seasons change and I am still the same, Passengers on moving trains. It's all that I fear to feel, Yet I'm still standing still. The fire grows and still I freeze, Ash and smoke brings me to my knees. The embers lie at my feet, Standing up I flee from the heat. And i know just what it means, To be strung out and seventeen. How did I get to 23? I know just what it means, To be strung out and seventeen. How did I become me?

The rivers flows to sea, the waves carried by wind. A Whisper catches the sail, God-sent. Mother Nature takes hold, leaving her home evermore. The child bearer will be carried to shore. Father I, father I feel torn, torn in two. The girl and her father, ride in haste, The misty mountain top reflects still in the lake. Like a forgotten fledgling, yearns the sky, Trampled down by Merrymen, who never learned to fly. The kettle of vultures near, The weakest cower in fear. We, the false shepherds, lead our flock astray. The lambs we lead to slaughter never see the light of day. High upon the alter, we offer this beast. The children will go hungry so the god’s shall have their feast. Unable to resist the taste Of forbidden fruit turns to waste. Approaching the water’s edge, Her face reflected there submerged. A knife she takes and cuts off her hair, As much as she dares. I find you here at last, With him no less. Bane of our past, you just think of yourself. I waited here for years, A lifetime ago. She journeyed here, How could I know? Long ago, just after your birth, Your father and I made a family of four. Your brother so young, loved this new baby girl, You slept in your cradles to the sounds of the shore. The sun rose high and warm in the sky, We awoke to a silence we hadn’t felt before. Running to the room where our babies had slept, Your brother lay silent, we held him tight and wept. I never knew, My nightmares all came true. Oh our darling never knew, We tried to hide it from you. But here we stand at last, A family of outcasts, Rejoined for all our past.
